Yes, referrals are valid for 12 months from a General Practitioner and 3 months from other specialists.

Do I need private insurance to be seen?

All insured and uninsured patients are cared for in the same way. Private health insurance, however, may influence the choice of hospital.

Where will my baby be delivered?

This can be discussed based on your particular circumstances and preferences at consultations. Dr Bakal has regular operating lists at the Westmead Private Hospital, Westmead Public Hospital, Norwest Private hospital and Auburn hospital.

Midwifery & Lactation

In addition to Dr Bakal’s experience and expertise, you will also see the mature and supportive midwifery staff. Our midwives are a very valuable resource when it comes to information, guidance and personal support.

Antenatal & Postnatal Education

As a patient of Dr Bakal you will have access to an extensive range of antenatal and postnatal education classes, including our hospital’s pregnancy, birth and parenting series, pre-admission clinic, baby massage and more. These will be taught by a midwifery and lactation team of the hospital. Hospitals have additional clinicians  providing classes in their area of expertise.
